ChurchLights supports local food pantries in the communities of Middleburg Heights and Parma Heights.

The Middleburg Heights Food Pantry serves an average of 400-500 people each month from 13 communities, through area churches. They have given away over 6,000 bags of food and non-food items, over 34,000 pounds of food and 10,000 additional pounds of produce.

Through donations, they are able to offer each family a complete Thanksgiving dinner including turkey, potatoes, stuffing, green beans and cranberry sauce -- in addition to their monthly shopping trip! For December, they host a Holiday Giveaway where local businesses will provide each child of they pantry clients with one special present!

The items that are most needed at this time of year are baking supplies (flour, sugar, butter), coffee and teas, hams, canned chicken or other meats, and cereal. Non-food items that are needed include bar soaps, deodorant and shampoos.

The pantry supplies food to 280 to 300 families a month, during the holiday that number can go as high as 450 families. Ann George and her small crew of dedicated volunteers see hurting families up close every week. Parma Heights families or those who go to a church in town can visit once a month to pick canned and boxed food, produce and bakery goods from the shelves. But they never turn anyone away. Christmas gifts will be given to children under the age of 18 once again this year due to the generosity of private donations.
